In 2018, we are continuing the work we started as an ACT community to become dementia friendly.

What We’re Doing for Our Community

  • Educated community members about dementia by compiling a resource brochure and writing monthly articles for the local newspaper
  • Conducting Dementia Friends information sessions at various community settings and also a Dementia Friends Champion training
  • Providing dementia education for firefighters and first responders and for the faith community
  • Hosted Every Minute Counts film for community members, followed by a panel discussion

About Our ACT Community

Pine City ACT on Alzheimer’s Action Community was formed in 2016. Several Pine City community leaders participate on the ACTion Team including a city council member, the city planner, the chamber of commerce head, the director of Pine County Health and Human services, a county commissioner, the county sheriff, and a leader in the faith community are involved in the effort.

Snapshot of Activities (underway in 2017)

  • Provide a Get the Facts series to community members
  • Lead Dementia Friends Information Sessions
  • Establish committees to provide dementia awareness training for law enforcement and local businesses
  • Hold Dementia Friends training for the Chamber of Commerce and determine interest in Dementia Friendly @ Work trainings
  • Create a resource brochure for people living with dementia and their caregivers
